Hello Pony Clubbers!
Here is an update from NB/PEI Dressage Chair as of July 21, 2024,
All information being passed along is tentative. Mindy is working on securing our venue (Regional Dressage will continue to run on the same weekend as Regional Show Jumping. Dressage on Saturday & Jumping on Sunday), so our date and location will be announced soon, and then this information will be formally finalized and dates will be approved by the board. I just wanted to offer the broad strokes of some of the fun new changes I will be implementing this year so that our members have the rest of the summer and early fall to prepare.
This year I will be offering all levels from Intro – Fourth at the Regional level. In the past we have not offered the higher levels, because they no longer run at Nationals, however I would love to offer them at our Championships to our Pony Clubbers and Horse Masters to celebrate their hard work!
I am also happy to introduce Freestyle and Pas de Deux divisions to the Regional Championships. Both of these will allow our members to show off their creativity and have some fun! For those looking for more information on what these divisions entail, please see the Freestyle and Pas de Deux definition below.
Freestyle: Freestyle tests are compulsory, level appropriate movements (see tests to see what movements are required at each level) choreographed to the riders choice of music. They are judged both on the quality of their movements, as well as the fluidity and musicality of their test.
Pas de Deux: Pas de Deux tests are similar to Freestyles, the riders must choreograph a fluid test that includes their compulsory, level appropriate movements to music, however it will be ridden by a pair of riders. The pair usually will choreograph a test that allows for complementary and mirrored movements. Pony Club allows members to ditch the traditional show clothes for Pas de Deux for fun (and safe) costumes or matching outfits.
Please remember that to be able to compete in the Regional Championship Divisions members must have 2 qualifying (scored 58% or higher) tests at their chosen level. Please be sure members (or your club) are keeping track of these tests as they will need to procure a copy to send along with their entry forms.
Please feel free to pass this information along to your members, but keep in mind that minor changes may occur.
Keep an eye on your emails, Mindy and I will have a date and location soon!
Please email me any questions.
Thanks all,
Tyra Lingley
