Tetrathlon is the ultimate test of a rider’s fitness as well as their pony’s. They must ride, shoot, run and swim all in one day! Usually this is a team sport but where we want everyone to give it a try, we will be doing this individually. That does not mean that we cannot show Loyalty, Character and Sportsmanship to work together and have fun!
Age is decided as of January 1st of the calendar year. “Peewee” will be anyone of the age 10 or under. “Novice” is participants ages 11 to 13, inclusively. “Junior” is participants 14 to 16, inclusively and “Senior” is any participant over the age of 16.
We will have a start time of 9am. We will begin with riding with the participants who are competing at the higher jumping levels and work our way down to the logs or Xrail division. They will then proceed to shooting and lunch after that. After lunch, we will run to the Hampton Bible Camp for the running portion and that is where we will swim. Riders will be returned to the Hampton Riding Centre to clean up and present awards.
Please indicate on your entry form what level you are comfortable jumping in an open Cross Country field. We will be offering everything from being led over logs with a lead-line, up to jumping 3 feet. Pace will be determined by the rider’s comfort level, there will be no penalty points for slower paces. Refusals (run outs, stopping) will accumulate penalty points to be subtracted from your riding score.
Each participant will be granted 10 warm-up shots. They will then have 20 shots that count towards their score. These are airsoft pistols with plastic beads. These guns are as per Canadian Pony Club specifications and no outside guns will be permitted. Safety and fun over score will emphasized in this phase.
The running route is a 1.5 km loop around the farm. The older kids will do the loop twice. This will be a lovely change as our runners get to go through the fields and along the trails in the woods.
The following distances and times have been assigned to the divisions:
This is meant as a guideline for the expectations for each division. If you believe that you/your child should be running a shorter distance, please indicate so on your entry form and identify yourself on the day of the event.

The pool of choice this year will be at the Hampton Bible camp.

Scoring will be determined as follows. All scores are final.
Casual riding attire is accepted. Breeches and a collared shirt are acceptable. ASTM approved helmets; boots with a heel; vests and gloves are mandatory. We have a limited amount of vests, please bring your own if possible.
Safety is of the utmost importance, along with fun. There will be no tolerance of pushing into the pool, running near the shooting, unsafe riding, etc. Unsafe behaviour will be grounds for dismissal. It is an expectation that riders will work together to keep the barn clean and the horses watered and looked after between events.
The fee is $60 which will include lunch at Hampton Riding Centre.
